                                   Allan Kornblum, Editor, Coffee House Press. Coffeehouse Press is one
                                   of the leading presses in the world for multicultural literature, with an
                                   extensive and successful track record for bringing out works such as
                                   the work of Cambodian poet and diplomat U Sam Ouer, one of the only
                                   survivors of the Killing Fields, and the award-winning Hmong memoir,
                                   The Latehomecomer. What are the emerging trends, and what does it
                                   take for a Southeast Asian American book to succeed and find its place
                                   among the classics? Audience members are encouraged to ask questions.

                                   “Every child begins as an artist. The trick is to keep them that way,” said
                                    the painter Pablo Picasso. To build a common baseline for discussion, we
                                    will provide a quick review about Laos and its relationship to the arts and
                                    recent trends and successes among Lao American artists.
